Really enjoy the variety here
Disinfomaniacs in particular is a great window in Maine politics, something we don’t often get from our own news media.
Eye opening and compelling
It’s a rough subject told by a guy in it. I’ll admit that I love Barry’s work, and this no exception.
Masterful
A difficult topic--devastatingly tragic situations investigated thoroughly, and presented eloquently in real and direct language. Barry never forgets the humanity of the victims. In fact, he is telling the story FOR the victims...
Excellent journalism
He put an incredible amount of research into this podcast. His personal experience adds an even higher level of credibility and enlightenment. The subject matter is difficult yet respectful to the victims.
Eyes Opened
Everyone needs to hear this podcast! The abuse and corruption and cover up that happened is beyond comprehension. Crash Barry is compassionate and brings the many disturbing details of what happened to Danny Croteau 49 years ago to the front of the line where it should be and also brings to view the abuse that was happening to many boys who grew up in the Catholic Church in Springfield MA. It really opened my eyes and I highly recommend everyone listen to this.
cried multiple times
This whole story is so very sad. I have cried multiple times over the course of the show. The storytelling and journalism is awesome.I would like to say that the long phone call interview in ep 11 could be cleaned up to sound a little better so that it is more easily understood. Otherwise, a perfect show.I've recommended to several other friends that like true crime pods.
Super Interesting!
As terrible as the subject matter may be (it doesn’t get much worse than Child Molesting Murderers) this podcast is absolutely entertaining! Thank you for the listen!
Awful cadence, great show
Love this, but I cannot listen to this stilted method of speaking
Riveting and leaves you wanting to hear more!!!
Crash Barry has a style of story telling like no one I have ever listened to! The unfortunate part is this story is true and we all know there is so much more unsaid and uncovered. Crash lays out these podcasts in a slow, methodical way that makes you pay attention and yearn for more. He’s compelling and sometimes even humorous. Kudos to the music that is intertwined with the tale, it only adds to the suspense and drama!!! Nice job, Crash!
Getting drawn in
The style of storytelling in the first episode has me hooked. Time to binge the entire series!
Well done with such a heart wrenching issue
This has been a real eye opener! So difficult to hear the details but Crash has been so considerate to those involved without losing the important message. Just amazing.
Great reporting
Crash has done an incredible job sifting thru the horros of the story.
Captivating & Horrifying
Crash Barry digs down into the horrifying depths of the Catholic Church in his home town to explore a world of child raping priests, a sex cult and an unsolved murder of a teenage boy that happened nearly 50 years ago. A thoroughly researched and gripping series. Highly recommended!
Chris Busby
The result of three years of research, including in-person interviews with predatory ex-priests, this 12 episode series is a stunning expose of the Church’s sins and their human cost. Investigative true-crime podcasting at its finest.
Excellent
Podcast noir. Takes a story that we all can get numb to - the Catholic clergy sex abuse scandal - and makes the sadness, outrage and absurdity of it resonate. Highlights the good guys and the innocents, if any of us can be called that.
The best true crime podcast out there
And possibly the best exploration of sexual abuse in the church since “The Keepers.”
I never do this...
But, wow. I hope they all are this good. From start to finish I was absolutely engaged and as engaged as it is possible to be in a podcast... I’ve embarrassingly pretty much listened to them all, starting with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s podcast back in 2006. This is the perfect capstone to the new wave of true crime kicked of by Serial.
